Terms of use
Last updated 14 October 2026
These terms are between you and The Trustee for Amod, trading as Digital Craftsmen Solutions (ABN 52 818 821 580) (“we”, “us”), which owns and runs My Runway: this website, the app at app.myrunway.com.au, and the emails we send (together, “My Runway”). By making an account or using My Runway you agree to them and to the privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it. Keep a copy of these terms if you’d like one for your records.
1. My Runway is a calculator, not advice
My Runway applies tax, super, duty and other rules to the figures and assumptions you give it, and shows the result. It gives general information only. It is not financial, tax, legal, credit or property advice; it does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs; and it never recommends a financial product, a lender or a course of action. We are not financial advisers, tax agents or credit providers.
My Runway is not intended to be relied on for the purpose of making a decision about a financial product, including a superannuation product. You should consider getting advice from a holder of an Australian financial services licence before making any financial decision. My Runway can make errors and you should double check all figures before acting on them.
Its purpose. My Runway shows how a household’s money might move from year to year on the figures and assumptions entered, so you can see the effect of changing them: when you could retire, buy a property or pay off a loan, and whether the money lasts.
Its limitations, and what they mean for you. A projection is an estimate of a future nobody knows, and these limits matter most:
- Growth is steady. Returns, growth and inflation are the same every year. Real markets rise and fall, and a fall just before or after you retire can leave you with much less than the projection shows.
- A year is one step. Figures are worked out a year at a time, so the timing of money within a year, and interest on it, are approximate.
- Rules change. It applies the tax, super, Age Pension, duty and land tax rules we have built in, as they stood when we last checked them. In later years, an amount the law indexes (such as the super caps and the Age Pension) grows at the plan’s inflation rate, or its wage growth where the law ties the amount to wages, and everything else stays as it is, including tax brackets and rates. Governments change these rules often, and some rules and circumstances are not modelled (for example trusts, companies and self-managed super funds). The further out a year is, the less it can be relied on.
- It only knows what you enter. A missing or wrong figure gives a wrong answer, and it doesn’t check your figures against any record.
Its assumptions. Each plan shows the assumptions it uses (investment and super returns, inflation, wage and property growth, interest rates, when each person retires and the age the plan runs to), and you can change any of them except the rates fixed by law, such as tax rates. The defaults are long-run figures, not forecasts, and we think each is reasonable for this reason:
- Inflation, 2.5% a year: the middle of the Reserve Bank’s target range for consumer prices, and the rate ASIC’s relief for generic calculators uses.
- Investment return, 7% a year, and super return, 6.5% a year: below the long-run average of Australian growth and balanced investment options, to leave room for fees, tax and poor decades. Super earns a little less because its earnings are taxed inside the fund.
- Dividend yield, 2.1% a year: the share of the investment return paid out as income and taxed as such, the rest being growth.
- Property growth, 4% a year: below the long-run growth of Australian dwelling prices, which may not continue.
- Wage growth, 3% a year: a little above inflation, and below the Intergenerational Report’s long-run 3.7%, since wages grew more slowly than that for most of the past decade.
- Super in today’s wages, 3.7% a year: the rate of wage growth ASIC’s relief for super calculators sets, from the Intergenerational Report’s long-run forecast. It is used only to show super in today’s wages, never to grow a figure in the plan.
- Cash rate, 4.1%, and home loan rate, 6.1%: the Reserve Bank’s cash rate when we last checked, and a typical variable home-loan rate above it.
- Retirement at 67, a plan that runs to 92: 67 is the Age Pension age; 92 is the age ASIC’s relief for super calculators sets for how long super is drawn down, a little past life expectancy at retirement, so the plan has to last.
Figures shown in today’s dollars are the future amount brought back to today’s value at the plan’s inflation rate, so a figure for a year to come is what it would buy now. Change an assumption to see how much the answer depends on it.
Super is also shown in today’s wages, the present value ASIC’s relief for super calculators asks for: a super balance is brought back to today’s value at the wage rate above until the person’s retirement age (or their preservation age, if later), and at the plan’s inflation rate after it. Wages usually rise faster than prices, so this figure is lower than the same balance in today’s dollars. Both come from the same projection.
My Runway is made for people who live in Australia: it applies Australian rules, and gives no answer for another country’s.
2. You check the figures
You are responsible for what you enter and for checking every figure My Runway shows before relying on it. We work to keep My Runway’s rules and rates correct and up to date, but we don’t promise that any calculation, rate, rule or projection is accurate, complete, current or suitable for your purpose.
3. Ask Runway
Ask Runway uses an AI model from Anthropic or OpenAI to turn what you type into a form, the same form you could fill in by hand. It is not a chat: each request is read on its own, with the names of what your plan holds but nothing you asked before. It shows you what it will add or change, and nothing is saved until you confirm it. It can misread you, so check what it fills in.
Fair use. Ask Runway is for filling in your own plan. A free account may ask threequestions each calendar month, and they come back on the 1st; a question counts once it is answered, whatever the answer. Each Plus account has a fair-use allowance each day and each month, set by what the requests cost us to run. When you reach the monthly allowance, Ask Runway is unavailable until the 1st of next month; when you reach the daily one, until the next day. Everything else in My Runway keeps working, and you can make the same change by hand. Don’t use Ask Runway for anything but your plan: don’t try to make it write anything else, reveal its instructions, or answer as anyone else, and don’t send it anything by script or in bulk. We may lower an allowance, or turn Ask Runway off for an account that misuses it.
No promise it keeps running. Ask Runway depends on AI providers we don’t control. It may be slow or unavailable at any time, and we may change the model it uses, change or end its allowances, or withdraw it altogether, without notice. Its availability, and the number of free questions, are not part of what My Runway or Plus promises you, and, except where the Australian Consumer Law gives you a right to one, its being unavailable is not a reason for a refund.
4. Your account
- You must be 18 or over to make an account.
- You need a working email address. Keep access to it secure: it is how you sign in.
- You are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it.
- Use My Runway only for its purpose and lawfully. Don’t try to get into other accounts or our systems; disrupt or overload the service; reach it by any means but the app and this website (such as scraping); probe its security without our written permission; do anything section 6 forbids; or pretend to be someone else or to be connected with us.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms in a way that matters, or keeps breaking them, and we may do so at once if we must to keep My Runway or other people safe. If we close a Plus account for any other reason, we refund the unused part of its year. You can delete your account at any time from the account page.
Sharing a plan. When you share a plan, the people you share it with see everything in it, and an editor can change or delete it. You choose who they are and what they can do, and you can take them off at any time; we aren’t responsible for what they do with it. Everyone who joins a plan does so under these terms, with their own account.
5. Your data
Your plan is yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run My Runway for you, as the privacy policy describes. If your plan holds figures about other people, such as a partner, you must be entitled to enter them. We don’t guarantee against data loss. We keep backups, but My Runway may lose, corrupt or be unable to restore information, and you should keep your own copy of anything that matters to you (Plus can export your projection). Deleting your account deletes your plan permanently.
6. What’s ours
My Runway belongs to us or to those who license it to us, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. That includes its software and source code; its calculation engine and the way it models tax, super, property, loans and cash flow; its methods, formulas, rules, rate tables and the way they are selected, arranged and combined; its design, screens, text and help content; and the name My Runway. Some of the software runs in your browser so the app can work there; that doesn’t make any of it yours to copy or reuse.
While you have an account we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use My Runway for your own household’s planning. Everything not expressly given to you is kept by us. Except as the law allows despite these terms, you must not, and must not help or let anyone else:
- copy, reproduce, modify, translate or adapt any part of My Runway, including its code, calculations, rules or rate tables;
- decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, de-obfuscate or otherwise try to work out its source code, algorithms or calculation methods, including by systematically feeding it inputs and studying its outputs in order to reproduce them;
- extract, scrape or collect its code, figures, rules or content by any automated means, or use any of them to build, train or test a software product, calculator or AI model;
- use My Runway, or anything you obtained from it, to build or help build a product or service that competes with My Runway or copies its features, calculations, design or look and feel; or
- sell, license, rent, share, publish or otherwise make any of it available to anyone else, or remove or change any notice of our ownership.
Your own figures, and the projections of your own household, are yours to keep, print and share as you like. If you break this section we may close your account at once, and we may seek an injunction and any other remedy the law gives us. If you send us an idea or feedback, we may use it freely, with no obligation to you.
7. Plus and payment
- The free plan has no time limit. Plus is billed annually, GST included, paid in advance.
- Plus renews automatically each year until you cancel. Cancel any time from Manage billing on the account page: Plus continues to the end of the year you paid for, and your plan stays on the free plan after that. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it doesn’t undo one already charged.
- If a renewal payment can’t be taken, Plus may end.
- There is no free trial and no refund for change of mind or part of a year; the free plan is the way to try My Runway first. If we charge you in error, we refund it. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
- We may change the price of Plus. A new price applies from your next renewal, and we’ll email you at least 30 days before that renewal, so you can cancel first if you don’t want to pay it.
- What the free plan and Plus include is what the app and the pricing page show at the time, and may change as section 9 describes.
- Payments are handled by Stripe under its own terms.
8. Invitations and affiliates
When you give us someone’s email address to share a plan with them, you confirm that they know you are doing so and are happy to receive that email from us. We send it only when you ask, say that you asked us to, and send them nothing more. Don’t give us the address of anyone who hasn’t agreed.
Credit earned by inviting a friend is a credit on a My Runway invoice, is limited as the app describes, has no cash value, and is taken back if the payment that earned it is refunded. Affiliate commissions are earned and paid as each affiliate’s own arrangement with us sets out; anything that arrangement leaves open, such as how a commission is paid, is at our discretion. We may change or end either programme at any time (a change doesn’t take away a reward or commission already earned), and may withhold or take back a reward or commission where we reasonably believe the sign-up or the payment that earned it is not genuine or breaks these terms, or where that payment is later refunded.
9. Changes to My Runway
My Runway is still growing, and we make no promise that any feature will continue, or continue to work the way it does today. We may change what the free plan and Plus include at any time: we may add features or limits to either plan, remove them from either plan, or move a feature from one plan to the other. Any feature, on the free plan or Plus, and any limit on it, may change or be removed at any time, and we may suspend or stop My Runway, including if the law requires it or it is no longer viable to run. If, during a year you have paid for, we remove a Plus feature, or reduce it, in a way that materially affects how you use My Runway, you may cancel within 30 days of the change and ask us, at [email protected], for the unused part of that year: we refund it in proportion to the time left in the year. This does not apply to Ask Runway (section 3), or to a feature that depends on a third-party service, such as an AI provider or a data source, that we limit or withdraw for reasons outside our control, such as the provider changing its price or price terms, changing its other terms, or ending the service. We’ll give reasonable notice by email before stopping My Runway altogether, so you can export what you need, and refund the unused part of a Plus year, on the same basis, if we do.
10. Our liability
Under the Australian Consumer Law, services come with guarantees that can’t be excluded, such as that they are supplied with due care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes those guarantees, or any other right the law says can’t be. This section applies only as far as the law allows it to.
Subject to that, My Runway is provided “as is” and “as available”, and we exclude every warranty not written in these terms. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on anything My Runway shows or from a financial decision you make. Nor are we liable for any indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or opportunities, or lost or corrupted data, whether in contract, negligence or otherwise. Our total liability to you for anything arising from My Runway is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and A$100.
You agree to cover us for any claim by someone else arising from your breach of these terms, your unlawful use of My Runway, or figures you entered about someone without the right to, except to the extent we caused or contributed to it.
11. Other services
My Runway relies on services run by others, the ones the privacy policy names. We aren’t responsible for an outage of theirs, or any other delay or failure caused by something beyond our reasonable control, or for what is on any other website.
12. If something goes wrong
Tell us first, at [email protected], what the problem is and what you’d like done. We’ll both try in good faith to settle it within 30 days. If we can’t, either of us may ask for mediation (online, or in Queensland) before going to court, and we each pay our own costs of it. None of this stops you from going to a regulator, a tribunal or an ombudsman, or either of us from seeking urgent relief from a court.
13. Everything else
- We may change these terms at any time. The new version appears here with a new date and applies from then. Your continued use of My Runway after a change means you accept the new terms. If you don’t accept them, stop using My Runway and delete your account.
- These terms, the privacy policy and what the app and the pricing page show are the whole agreement between us about My Runway.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, and its courts, and the courts that hear appeals from them, may hear any dispute about them.
- We may transfer these terms to whoever takes over My Runway, and will email you if we do. Your account is yours alone and you can’t transfer it.
- If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- We write to you at your account’s email address; you can write to us at [email protected].
