My Runway

Privacy policy

Last updated 14 October 2026

My Runway is a financial projection calculator for households. It is a product of Digital Craftsmen Solutions, which owns and runs it (“we”, “us”). This policy says what personal information we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and what you can ask of us. We handle it under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. “Personal information” means what that Act means: information or an opinion about you, true or not, from which you can reasonably be identified.

The short version: we ask for figures, not identity; your plan is stored in Australia; we don’t sell your information or show you advertising; and you can delete your account, and the plans in it, at any time.

What we collect

  • Your email address, to sign you in, to write to you about your account, and to send you emails about My Runway (see Emails about My Runway).
  • Your plan: the figures you enter (income, spending, balances, super, property values, loans), the names you give people and items, each person’s year of birth, the state a property is in, your milestones, rules and settings, and any balances you record over time.
  • A property’s address, only if you type one. It is a label for you, stored with your plan: we never look it up or use it for anything else.
  • How you found us: the affiliate’s or friend’s link you came from, any campaign tags on it (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign), the website that sent you, the page you landed on, and when you first gave us your email address. Your browser keeps it from your first visit until you first sign in, and it goes with your first sign-in email to our sign-in provider. We use it to pay affiliates, to credit friends, and to see which ways of finding us work, and we record whether an account has ever paid.
  • Billing records: whether you are on Plus, your renewal date, and a customer reference from our payment processor. Your card details go straight to the processor; we never see or hold them.
  • What you write to us: messages through Help or by email, a screenshot of the page if you choose to add one to a Help message (it shows your figures), and what you type into Ask Runway.
  • The email address of anyone you share a plan with, kept until they join the plan or you withdraw the invitation. We don’t email them: you tell them yourself. Once they join, they see the plan (and, as an editor, can change it), and you see their email address.
  • Technical information: your IP address and browser in our servers’ logs, counts of how the app is used, and reports of errors the app runs into. We design our logs, usage figures and error reports to reduce the amount of sensitive information stored.

We don’t ask for your tax file number, bank or super account numbers, your employer, or your full date of birth, and you shouldn’t enter them. You can use My Runway under any name you like in a plan.

A household plan usually holds other people’s figures too: a partner’s income and super, a child’s year of birth. Enter them only with that person’s knowledge. They can ask us about what we hold, the same as you.

How we use it

To run My Runway for you: to sign you in, save your plan so it opens on any device, work out your projection, take payment for Plus, answer your questions, send the emails your account needs, keep the service secure, and find out which parts of the app are used so we can improve it. We don’t use your information for advertising, we don’t sell or rent it to anyone.

Emails about My Runway

When you create an account, we may also email you about My Runway, such as: help getting started, what Plus adds, new features, and changes to the rules it uses. The sign-in page says so before you sign up. Every one of these emails says it is from us and has an unsubscribe link that works straight away, without signing in. You can also turn them off, or back on, at any time under Account → Emails in the app. Emails your account needs, such as sign-in codes, billing and replies to you, still come.

These emails tell us whether each one was opened and which of its links were clicked, so we can tell what is useful and send less of what isn’t. Emails your account needs don’t. We record when you turned them off or on, and how.

We never email someone without an account: not someone you share a plan with, and not the friends you send your invite link to.

Who helps us run My Runway

We use these service providers, each only for its part:

  • Amazon Web Services hosts the app and stores your account and plan.
  • Supabase handles sign-in and holds your email address.
  • Stripe takes payments for Plus and holds your billing details. Stripe may process them outside Australia, including in the United States.
  • Anthropic or OpenAI, whichever runs Ask Runway at the time, reads what you type into Ask Runway to fill in a form, in the United States. It receives that text and the names of what your plan holds.
  • Sentry receives reports of errors in the app, in the United States.
  • Our email provider sends sign-in emails, account emails and emails about My Runway, may do so from outside Australia, and tells us whether each was delivered and, for emails about My Runway, opened or clicked.
  • Cloudflare hosts this website, and Google Fonts serves its fonts, so both see your IP address when you visit it.
  • Google Analytics counts visits to this website, not the app: the pages you open, the website that sent you, your device and browser, your rough location from your IP address, and whether you sent a sign-up form. Google may process this in the United States. It never receives your email address or anything in your plan.

Where a provider handles information outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected to the standard the Australian Privacy Principles require. We may also disclose information where the law requires or allows it, for example to a court or a regulator. If My Runway is sold or passes to another business, your information goes with it, still under this policy, and we’ll tell you.

Cookies and storage

This website uses Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to count visits and to tell a new visitor from one who has been before. It runs no advertising scripts, and our host may set a cookie it needs to protect the site from attack. You can block these cookies in your browser, or turn Google Analytics off with Google’s own browser add-on; the website works the same either way. The app uses no analytics cookies. The app stores a few things in your browser to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, hold a plan you keep only on this device, keep your quick setup answers until the plan is made (for 30 days at most, and cleared when you sign out), and remember an invitation or affiliate code until you sign up. Clearing your browser’s site data signs you out.

Keeping it safe

Information travels encrypted and is stored encrypted. Each account can reach only its own plans. Only the people who run My Runway can reach its systems; our own tools for running it show accounts and billing, and record each change made with them. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and plan until you delete them. Delete account, on the account page, closes your account and deletes your plans, balances and settings within two days; copies in our backups are gone within the backup timelines. A plan someone else owns and shared with you stays with its owner. We keep your email address and a record of your account, such as how you used My Runway; ask us at [email protected] to delete those too. We keep billing and tax records for as long as the law requires, messages you sent us for as long as we need them to help you, and error reports for a few months at most. Usage counts that can no longer be linked to you may be kept.

Seeing and correcting your information

Almost everything we hold about you is in the app for you to see, change or export. The Australian Privacy Principles (12 and 13) also let you ask for anything else we hold about you, and ask us to correct it: write to [email protected]. It costs nothing. We’ll answer as soon as we can, and we may need to confirm it’s you first. If the law lets us refuse, we’ll tell you why in writing.

Questions and complaints

Write to [email protected] and tell us what happened. The person who runs My Runway reads every privacy complaint; we may ask you for more detail, and we’ll reply as soon as we can with what we found and what we’ll do about it. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

My Runway is for adults

My Runway is for people 18 and over. We don’t knowingly hold an account for anyone younger.
